E155 was originally only approved for Britain and Ireland, but due to common European rules it is now approved throughout the EU. It is most used in products that would like to appear as if chocolate was used. Chocolate cakes are a natural habitat for this color.
A brown synthetic ‘coal tar’ and azo dye found mainly in chocolate flavour cakes.

It appears to cause allergic and/or intolerance reactions, particularly amongst those with an aspirin intolerance and asthma sufferers, also known to induce skin sensitivity
