E142 is a green synthetic coal tar dye found in desserts, gravy granules, ice cream, mint sauce, sweets, packet breadcrumbs, cake mixes and tinned peas. There has been no recent studies into the ADI of the dye, but 3 liters of softdrink or 3 kgs of marmalade is enough to reach the limited ADI.
Currently research is ongoing into acceptable intake levels, however it is known to cause hyperactivity, asthma, uticaria, and insomnia.
